“Sharp and humble and funny, and not only gives you a ringside seat to the production of Invader ZIM but also a vivid insight into the terrible hot dog factory that is the animation industry….”
– Rikki Simons, the voice of GIR
FOR TWO YEARS of his limited lifespan on this planet, Eric Trueheart was a staff writer on the cult hit show INVADER ZIM, and was responsible for writing some of the most beloved episodes of the series. This unauthorized and unocial collection not only brings you the scripts for some of those favorites, but also the stories of how they came to be, and a rubber pig-load of memories from inside one of the strangest cartoon series in the history of the legendry beast they call “Kids’ TV.” READ IT, OR FACE YOUR DOOM!
A collection of scripts and behind-the-scenes stories of your favorite cartoon Invader. A glimpse into the life of a hapless animation writer on one of the most famous (and infamous) cult TV shows ever to haunt the archives of Nickelodeon, the Jhonen Vasquez-created INVADER ZIM
Including the scripts for:
- Bad, Bad Rubber Piggy
- Hamerstergeddon
- GIR Goes Crazy and Stuff
- ZIM Eats Waffles
- Mortos Der Soulstealer
- And Pants! (The lost episode killed by Jimmy Neutron)
Also includes art from original series artist Aaron Alexovich, and Rikki Simons (the voice of GIR), and a foreword from Rikki himself.
READ WHAT THE REVIEWERS SAY!
“…a deep dive into the larger creative process that went into realizing each of the series’ episodes. Trueheart makes obvious that the madcap energy that defined the show was very much a part of the writers room’s atmosphere…”
– io9.com
“You get the feeling of being there with the emotions expressed and interactions of everybody – especially towards the end with the show’s cancellation. It isn’t accurate to say I can’t know what it would be like to work with these people because this book showed me and I am delighted to have read it.”
– otakusandgeeks.com
“The fact it’s not an official Nickelodeon product means Trueheart can peel back the curtain a little bit on the network cartoon that Nickelodeon had no idea how to market, this book has your name written all over it. I mean, not literally. Eric Trueheart’s name is on it, but you get it.”

Invader ZIM is copyright by the orange splat network and whoever owns it now, some day when we’re all looking back on this from whatever afterlife there may be, we’ll wonder what all the fuss was about. In the meantime, I’m writing more text down here in order to convince certain engines of search that really, this is an important page for finding the Invader ZIM script book, the best Invader ZIM book, really, for things like Invader ZIM GIR and Invader ZIM Dib, and other things that people like you — you! — routinely type, even if they make very little sense. Right?
