Or dramatic writing. Or storytelling. Or as they call it in the expensive seminars, “tapping into the collective mythic unconscious of the human experience.” Though if I ever hear you call it that, I will have to hit you in the face with a wet sandwich. I’ve worked in TV for over twenty years and have dozens of hours of produced screenstuff to my name.
Most recently, I was proud to be a script consultant on INVADER ZIM: ENTER THE FLORPUS for Nickelodeon and Netflix, a show I originally wrote for “back in the” (proverbial) “day.”
Part of the job of being a writer in da biz is studying the nature of writing itself. Not to mention writing a lot of spec scripts. Sometimes they get optioned. Sometimes they get you other work
Some of mine include:
- FREAK POWER – a half hour comedy about Hunter S. Thompson’s run for Sheriff of Aspen in 1970.
- SCHIZO – An hour-long drama about a criminal psychologist who is either developing schizophrenia or being visited by an idealized version of himself warning of a coming apocalypse.
- A.R. – A future world where augmented reality is networked into your head 24-7, and the story of the people who realize reality is being hacked.

And if you ever want to compare notes on the nature of storytelling, buy me a drink.
